The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has annulled Edo Queens’ victory over Ghanaian side Ampem Darkoa Ladies in the final of the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League WAFU-B qualifiers.
The decision follows a protest by Ampem Darkoa over the procedure used to determine the winner after the final ended 2-2 in Ouagadougou on 5 September.
Edo Queens won the subsequent penalty shootout 4-1 to lift the WAFU-B title and secure the zone’s qualification place for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
Ampem Darkoa, however, challenged the decision to proceed directly to penalties, arguing that the competition regulations required the match to go into extra time.
CAF upheld the protest, ruling that the final was not conducted in accordance with the WAFU-B regulations.
Under Article 72.4 of the regulations, a final that remains level after 90 minutes must be followed by two 15-minute periods of extra time. A penalty shootout is only required if the scores are still level after the additional 30 minutes.
The ruling effectively cancels the penalty shootout result and means the final will resume from the 2-2 scoreline.
Edo Queens and Ampem Darkoa will now play 30 minutes of extra time, divided into two 15-minute periods. If neither side establishes a lead, the winner will be decided by penalties.
The team that eventually wins the rescheduled conclusion will represent the WAFU-B zone at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League.
