Cooking gas price increases by 8.70% annually – NBS

The average price of 5kg of Liquified Natural Gas, LNG, also known as cooking gas, increased by 8.70 per cent to N4,962.87 in December 2023 from N4,565.56 in December 2022.

The National Bureau of Statistics, NBS, disclosed this in its latest LPG price watch for December 2023.

According to NBS, on a state-by-state analysis, Adamawa, Jigawa, and Ogun states recorded the highest prices. In contrast, states in the southeast, such as Imo and Ebonyi, recorded the lowest prices.

Regarding the geopolitical zone, the North-East recorded the highest average retail price for refilling a 5kg cylinder of LNG (cooking gas) at N5,256.61.

Following closely, the North-West reported a price of N5,144.50, whereas the Southeast recorded the lowest retail price at N4,155.59.
