Controversial Nigerian content creator DJ Chicken has been remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in Lagos State after being arraigned before a Magistrate Court sitting in the Ogba area of the state.

The court on Friday ordered his remand over allegations that he threatened to kill Seyi Tinubu, son of President Bola Tinubu.

DJ Chicken was arraigned on a three-count charge bordering on alleged violations of the Cybercrimes Act, breach of the peace and making threats to kill. The charges followed a viral video in which he allegedly claimed that President Tinubu would not win re-election in 2027 and made threats against his son.

Following public backlash, the content creator retracted the remarks, saying they were intended as a joke to gain popularity.

Despite the apology, he was arrested and subsequently arraigned before the court.

DJ Chicken pleaded not guilty to all the charges. The court granted him bail in the sum of ₦1 million with two sureties in like sum. One surety must be a civil servant, while the other must be a community leader with landed property in Lagos State.

The court also directed the sureties to provide evidence of three years’ tax clearance, utility bills, their National Identification Number (NIN) and Lagos State Residents Registration Agency (LASRRA) registration. In addition, one of the sureties must be a blood relative of the defendant.

The case was adjourned until 3 August 2026 for further proceedings. The court ordered that DJ Chicken be remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre pending the fulfilment of his bail conditions.
