A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Shina Abiola Peller has cautioned Nigerians against cursing their leaders.

Peller, who represents Iseyin/Itesiwaju/Kajola/Iwajowa federal constituency of Oyo State, explained that such curses might have negative impacts on the governed.

The lawmaker advised Nigerians to ask God to purify the heart of their leaders and guide them aright, rather than cursing them.

He maintained that there is no need for the citizens to curse political leaders and others who are occupying various offices across the country.

While felicitating with Muslims over the completion of the one-month Ramadan fast, Peller enjoined the Muslims to intensify their good deeds as devotedly carried out during the Ramadan period.

He said that those who are not satisfied with the outcome of the recently held general elections to seek redress in the court of law, advising citizens to spread love and not hatred.

Peller asked citizens to preach peace and not violence, adding that citizens must embrace unity in diversity and treat others the best way they would like to be treated.

The lawmaker, who doubles as the Ayedero of Yorubaland, said peaceful coexistence, irrespective of religious, ethnic or political differences, should be the watchword for every Nigerian.

“Moreover, we must restrict the temptation of cursing our leaders as doing so will have direct or indirect impacts on us, the governed. Rather, we should pray for God to purify their heart and guide them aright.

“Importantly, as we celebrate this year Eid-al Fitri, let us spread love, not hatred; let us preach peace, not violence; let us embrace our unity in diversity and treat others the best way we would like to be treated”. he said.
