Nigerian music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has said singer Ayra Starr has had a significant impact on his life.
Don Jazzy made the remark while responding to a post on X by @_Fabianszn, who shared an old photograph of Ayra Starr and praised the music executive for helping to launch her career.
The user wrote: “Don Jazzy really saved Ayra Starr if not she for still dey teach kindergarten children.”
Responding to the post, Don Jazzy recalled how he discovered Ayra Starr through a freestyle she posted on Instagram.
“I bless the day I was shown her Instagram freestyle,” he wrote.
The Mavin Records boss added that Ayra Starr had also transformed his own life, describing her as a “dream Starrgirl”.
“She has most definitely changed my own life too. And she has been nothing but a dream Starrgirl,” he said.
Don Jazzy signed Ayra Starr to Mavin Records in 2020 after becoming interested in her music through her freestyle videos and song covers on Instagram.
The singer subsequently rose to prominence with hits including Away, Rush and Sability, establishing herself as one of the leading figures in Nigeria’s new generation of Afrobeats artists.
