The Gbenga Hashim Solidarity Movement (GHSM) has dismissed the reported endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential election by Governor Ademola Adeleke and some Accord Party officials at the Osun State Government House, describing the meeting as unconstitutional and without political effect.
In a statement issued on Monday by its National Coordinator, the group said the gathering lacked constitutional authority and could not override decisions made through the Accord Party’s established structures.
GHSM maintained that Dr Gbenga Hashim remains the Accord Party’s presidential candidate, having emerged through a nationwide direct primary held on 30 May 2026 in accordance with the Electoral Act and Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) guidelines.
The group argued that the mandate conferred on Hashim could not be altered through political negotiations, public statements or meetings held outside the party’s constitutional framework.
It described the reported endorsement of President Tinubu as “null, unconstitutional and without political consequence”, adding that no meeting outside the party’s recognised structures could invalidate the outcome of the primary.
GHSM also accused Governor Adeleke of engaging in anti-party activities and alleged that state resources were being used in an attempt to influence the Accord Party’s presidential project in favour of another political party.
The movement further stated that it remained opposed to what it described as efforts to create a one-party state, insisting that the Accord Party belongs to its members rather than individuals pursuing political advantage.
Expressing confidence ahead of the 2027 general election, GHSM said its supporters across Nigeria’s 774 local government areas would intensify mobilisation in support of Hashim’s presidential ambition.
The group also noted that the dispute over the Accord Party’s presidential nomination is before the Federal High Court in Abuja, where proceedings have concluded and judgement has been reserved. It argued that public pronouncements on issues pending before the court were inappropriate and reaffirmed its commitment to pursuing the matter through the judicial process, including any necessary appeals.
GHSM concluded by expressing confidence that the outcome of the 2027 presidential election would ultimately be determined by Nigerian voters rather than political negotiations.
