Government Technical College, Agidingbi wins Lagos quiz contest

Government Technical College, Agidingbi has emerged winner of the maiden inter-collegiate quiz competition organised by the Lagos State Technical and Vocational Education Board (LASTVEB) for all the five technical colleges in the state.

The programme was conceived to broaden the knowledge of the students and foster cordial relationships and teamwork among them.

In her opening remarks, the Executive Secretary of LASTVEB, Ms Moronke Azeez said the quiz competition is an ideal and interactive way of learning, creating teamwork across the colleges, and fostering cordial relationships, adding that LASTVEB also intends to use the platform to prepare the students for national and international competitions toward promoting technical and vocational education in the state.

She further stated that the competition was also designed to create more awareness about technical education and inherent opportunities as well as to improve the student’s academic capabilities.

Azeez said: “This is the first time LASTVEB is organising this kind of competition for the students of the five technical colleges in Lagos. The idea was conceived to create more awareness about technical education, and promote students’ capabilities. This maiden edition would also be used to learn, seek collaborations and partnerships with others for future competitions”.

The Director of Co-Curricular, LASTVEB, informed that the competition is to further instill the spirit of hard work and inculcate the ability to think outside the box in the students.

The duo of Ejodame Osemudiame and Iwuanyawun Emmanuel, representing Government Technical College, Agidingbi came first; Government Technical College, Ado Soba, Badagry finished second; while Government Technical College, Ikotun came third in the keenly contested quiz competition which covers four broad areas of Mathematics, English, ICT and General Knowledge.
