The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said that some hoodlums disrupted the re-run election in the Enugu South I State Constituency.

The commission stated this via a tweet posted on its X handle Wednesday.

It added that though no lives were lost in the act, election materials were destroyed and voters were prevented from casting their votes.

The tweet read, “A report from our Enugu State office indicates that hoodlums have disrupted the court-ordered re-run election in the Enugu South I State Constituency.

“Fortunately, no casualties were reported, but election materials were destroyed, and voters were obstructed from casting their votes.

“Our officials have been safely evacuated with assistance from security agencies”.

The national electoral body noted that “the supplementary election in the Jalingo/Yorro/Zing Federal Constituency of Taraba State is unfolding peacefully across three Local Government Areas”.
