Hajiya Aisha Muhammad Nahuche became widely known following reports that she found and returned $80,000 during this year’s Hajj in Saudi Arabia.

During an interview with Daily Trust after her return from Hajj, Hajiya Aisha and her sons were elated about her actions.

Aisha hails from Nahuche community in Bungudu Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Her sons expressed immense pride in their mother’s honourable deed, stating that sponsoring her for the holy pilgrimage was a decision they did not regret.

One of her sons, Bashir Muhammad said that she informed him about finding the money and he advised her to hand it over to the relevant authorities.

Aisha said that it was her first time performing Hajj, and she was fortunate to be sponsored by her four sons, who she raised as a single mother after they lost their father at a young age.

Determined to prioritise their mother’s Hajj, they had not gone for the pilgrimage themselves until she had the opportunity.

While performing the Tawaff ritual during the Hajj, Aisha stumbled upon a bag, which she cautiously moved aside due to the large crowd. Acording to her, An Arab man noticed and thought the bag belonged to her. He handed it to her.

Upon checking, Aisha discovered it contained a significant amount of money. She promptly sought an official from her local government and handed over the money to Sheikh Umar Kanoma. State officials contacted Saudi officials to ensure the safe return of the money.

Aisha recalled that she had informed her son, Bashir about the discovery, and he encouraged her to find the rightful owner and return the money, as she went to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, not to search for money. She firmly believed that it was her duty to return the money because it did not belong to her.

After returning to Nigeria, Aisha realised the magnitude of her actions when people started inquiring about the incident. Despite the newfound attention, she remained grateful to her children, her state, and her country, praying for their well-being.

Her sons, who are engaged in trading and farming, take good care of her, and she expressed pride in them.
