Nigerian singer Temilade Openiyi, popularly known as Tems, has announced that she has “left the streets”, a phrase often used to suggest that a woman is no longer searching for love or may be settling down.

The Grammy-winning singer made the disclosure during a TikTok livestream on Monday but did not provide further details about what prompted the decision.

Tems, however, explained that she was tired of men wasting her time.

“I don’t like it when guys waste my time. But for me, never again. I don’t have that problem anymore. I have left the streets; I wouldn’t even say I was ever on the streets,” she said.

The singer has previously spoken about her experiences with men who approach her with motives she considers insincere.

In an interview with YouTuber Korty EO last year, Tems revealed that many of the men who approached her for romantic relationships were primarily interested in her physical appearance.

She said she would rather have genuine and deeper connections, rather than relationships based largely on physical attraction.
