The Lagos State Government has sealed Pinnock Beach Estate in Osapa London, Lekki, alongside three other properties across the state over alleged illegal discharge of untreated sewage into public drains and canals.

The enforcement operation was carried out on Thursday by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) after what the agency described as repeated warnings and abatement notices issued to the affected facilities.

According to the agency, Pinnock Beach Estate was shut down for allegedly pumping untreated sewage into a nearby canal, an action said to have caused environmental pollution, offensive odour and threats to public health as well as aquatic life in the area.

LSWMO also sealed a property located at No. 28 Amodu Street, Itire, Surulere, following complaints from residents over the continuous discharge of raw sewage into neighbouring compounds and public drainage channels.

The agency described the act as a serious environmental and health hazard capable of exposing residents to disease outbreaks and unsanitary conditions.

In Ajah, another property situated on Oladipo Dumoye Street within Mashy Hill Estate, Ado Road, Eti-Osa, was sealed for allegedly discharging untreated wastewater into public drains, resulting in environmental nuisance, drainage blockage and pollution.

Similarly, Vintage Heights Estate on Ojulari Street, Elegushi, Lekki, was shut down over the alleged pumping of untreated sewage into drainage systems and indiscriminate discharge of raw sewage into the environment.

The Lagos State Government warned residents, estate managers and property owners to comply strictly with approved wastewater disposal regulations, stressing that violators of environmental laws would face sanctions and possible prosecution.

The government reiterated its commitment to maintaining environmental safety and protecting public health through strict enforcement of sanitation and wastewater management laws across the state.
