Kano shares 8,500 bags of rice to PWDs

Kano state government yesterday distributed over 8,800 bags of rice and maize to 4,400 people with special needs.

The beneficiaries include the blind, the deaf and dumb, albino, the cripple, orphans and widows of late security personnel from all the security agencies and para-military, including Hisbah and Kwankwasiyya Guards.

They were drawn from across the 44 Local Government Areas of the state, 100 from each of the local councils.

Each beneficiary got one bag of rice and a bag of Maize, it was learnt.

Deputy Governor, Comrade Aminu Abdulsalam Gwarzo, represented Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf during the sharing of the palliatives which took place at the KASCO premises, Farm Centre, Kano.

The governor said the gesture was part of the humanitarian policies of his administration.

Yusuf commended the committee on palliatives, headed by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Dr Abdullahi Baffa Bichi, for their transparency and commitment towards ensuring that the palliatives get to the targeted people while tasking them to show patriotism during the distribution.

He said his administration will promote human development, and ensure the welfare of the people in Kano state.
