The Kwara State Government has commenced the evacuation of illegal dump sites across the state capital, Ilorin.

The government has therefore warned residents to desist from the indiscriminate dumping of refuse.

According to a statement by the Press Secretary in the Ministry of Environment, Yakub Aliagan, the cleanup which started on Wednesday was performed by the Commissioner, Ndanusa Usman.

The statement statement read, “In a bid to sustain a clean and hygienic environment and promote healthy living, the ministry with the support of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, has commenced the evacuation of illegal dump sites across the Ilorin metropolis and the exercise will continue until all illegal dump sites are evacuated.

“The commissioner, therefore, warned residents in the state capital to desist from dumping refuse indiscriminately or face the full wrath of the law.

“He seized the opportunity to call on individuals and corporate organisations to join hands with the present administration in its bid to eradicate indiscriminate dumping of refuse aiming at sustaining the environment.

“Illegal dump sites already evacuated were those at the Admiralty Villa, Sakele and Airport Road”.
