NIDOA Ohio appoints Deba Uwadiae to lead Nigeria House project

The Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation of the Americas, Ohio (NIDOA) has tapped Columbus-based Publisher, Deba Uwadiae to lead the actualisation of a Nigeria House in Columbus, Ohio. The Nigeria House project was one of the outcomes of the 2025 NIDOA Annual General Meeting held in Columbus, Ohio last October.

The appointment of Publisher of the New Americans magazine, Deba Uwadiae to lead the project was announced at the monthly meeting of the NIDOA Ohio held on Saturday, 18 April 2026, at the Columbus Metropolitan Library, Karl Road branch, Columbus, Ohio.

‘We are appointing Mr. Deba Uwadiae to take charge of the Nigeria House project’, said Sonje Calamese, President, NIDOA, Ohio.

The Nigeria House, expected to serve as a Cultural and Resource Hub for Nigerians in Diaspora will create a welcoming space that celebrates Nigerian heritage, fosters community, and provides essential resources for Nigerians in Ohio and beyond.

While expressing gratitude for the appointment, Deba Uwadiae said that ‘a Nigeria House of our dream will serve as a cultural, informational, and recreational center for Nigerians and friends of Nigeria in Columbus and beyond’.

‘It will promote Nigerian culture and heritage, provide resources and support for Nigerians in diaspora, foster community engagement and collaboration and create a vibrant space for recreation and celebration’.

Established in 2000, Nigerians in Diaspora Organization (NIDO) in the Americas is a non-profit organization headquartered in Washington, D.C. that draws resources from the synergy of all Nigerian Professionals in the Diaspora, to instill ethical consciousness and civic responsibility that will enhance the socio-economic advancement of Nigerians and humanity in general.
