The highly anticipated contest took place on Wednesday, 1 October, at the Federal Palace Hotel in Victoria Island, with Phyna emerging victorious after several rounds.
The reality television star received a new car and a N50 million cash prize following her victory.
Reacting to the result on social media, Nkechi maintained that she still considered herself a champion despite the defeat.
“Still a champion regardless of the result. Even the blind know who the winner is,” she wrote, while thanking her coach and noting that she had trained for only two days.
She added that she would now return to acting, saying: “Now let’s go back to making movies cause I no be boxer.”
The bout followed a tense build-up between the two celebrities. At a press conference a day before the fight, the pair reportedly had to be separated by security officials after appearing to exchange heated words.
They had also traded verbal jabs at public appearances in the run-up to the contest, adding to interest in the event, which was promoted as “Chaos in the Ring”.
Despite the outcome, Nkechi’s post suggested she intended to move on from the boxing contest and return to her acting career.
