Nollywood actress Funke Akindele has opened up about the emotional challenges of fame, revealing that she sometimes breaks down in tears behind closed doors while dealing with public scrutiny and pressure.

The actress made the revelation during an interview with CNN, where she discussed the personal struggles that often remain hidden behind her cheerful public image.

Akindele explained that despite appearing strong and happy in public, she occasionally locks herself away to cry and release her emotions before gathering the strength to move forward.

“I cry. I lock myself in the room, cry, break down, and hit the bed. But I just pick myself up and come back to life,” she said.

The actress also disclosed that public criticism sometimes makes her question her decisions and worry about how people perceive her.

According to her, she occasionally finds herself reflecting on her actions and wondering whether she has made mistakes, particularly when considering the reactions of others.

“Sometimes I tell myself, you’ve made a mistake again. How are people going to judge you?” she said.

However, Akindele said she has learnt to overcome such moments by picking herself up and continuing with her life rather than allowing public opinion and criticism to define her.

Her revelation offers a glimpse into the emotional pressures associated with celebrity life, highlighting the personal challenges that can exist behind a seemingly cheerful public image.
