The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Lagos State Command, has cracked down on vandals destroying armoured cables in the Amuwo-Odofin community of Lagos State.
The suspects were reportedly caught in the act following an alarm raised by residents of the community to operatives of the Lagos State Command.
Confirming the development in a statement yesterday, the Civil Defence Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Command, Oluwaseun Abolurin, said the breakthrough in the fight against vandalism of telecommunications cables in the Amuwo-Odofin area was achieved through actionable intelligence provided by the community.
He thanked residents of the Amuwo community for their collaboration and cooperation, particularly in intelligence and information sharing, which he said resulted from robust community engagement programmes organised in the first and second quarters of 2026 with relevant stakeholders across the state.
According to him, investigations into the matter are ongoing.
