Nine-time African champions, Super Falcons will face either Ethiopia or Chad in the second round of the qualifying series for the Paris 2024 Women’s Olympics football tournament.

The Paris 2024 Olympics will hold from 26th July to 11th August in Paris.

The Falcons, who missed the last three editions of the Olympics in 2012, 2016 and 2020 after losing out to Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea and Côte d’Ivoire on those occasions, are seeded for the second round of the qualifying series, according to draw by the Confederation of African Football.

Other seeded teams are South Africa, Morocco, Zambia, Cameroon, Tunisia and Botswana.

The games will be played between 23th and 31st October with Nigeria away in the first leg, following the first round matches scheduled for 10th to 23rd July.

Eighteen teams will feature from the first round with the remaining seven teams seeded joining the qualifiers in the second round as the highest-ranked teams from the previous FIFA Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.

The tournament format will see the nine winners from the first round join the seven highest-ranked teams in a captivating second-round clash involving 16 teams.

From there, eight winners will progress to the third round, followed by the fourth round, where only four teams will be left.

The third round qualifiers will hold from 19th to 28th February, next year, while the final round will come up between 1st and 9th April.

The winners of the fourth round will secure their qualification for the final tournament in Paris.
