Senator tasks constituents on entrepreneurship

The Deputy Senate Minority Leader, Dr Lere Oyewumi, has charged women and youths in Osun West Senatorial to embrace entrepreneurship to earn a decent living.

Oyewumi, currently representing Osun West in the Senate, spoke on Sunday in Ikire at an empowerment programme he organised during which, beneficiaries consisting of women and youths, drawn mainly from Osun West Senatorial District, received grants for business purposes.

The lawmaker, who said acquiring vocational skills and having entrepreneurial ventures, had become very necessary, said the gesture was about empowering people to create sustainable means of livelihood.

A statement by Oyewumi’s media aide, Timileyin Popoola, quoted him as saying, “The empowerment initiative is part of a broader strategy to tackle unemployment and promote self-sufficiency among the youth and women in the district.

I want to emphasise the importance of entrepreneurship and skill development in driving economic growth. We need to embrace it to earn decent living.

This is not just about giving money; it’s about empowering you to create a sustainable livelihood that will impact generations to come”.

Earlier, the Osun West Senatorial Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Adesoye Oyetunde, noted various interventions of Oyewumi, describing him as a true servant of the people.

Also commenting, the Osun PDP Chairman, Mr. Sunday Bisi, commended Oyewumi, expressing appreciation for his consistent focus on bettering the lives of his constituents.

Popoola further said that at the empowerment programme, over 800 youths and women from Osun West Senatorial District received grants to support their businesses and vocations.
