Nigeria’s Super Falcons are set to face Tanzania in a pre-2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) friendly as they intensify preparations for the continental tournament in Morocco.
The encounter is scheduled to take place in Casablanca, with the match serving as the Falcons’ final opportunity to fine-tune their preparations ahead of the tournament.
The friendly comes after Nigeria’s planned clash with Ghana’s Black Queens was cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances. The Super Falcons had initially been scheduled to face Ghana in Casablanca on 18 July.
The 2026 WAFCON is scheduled to begin in Morocco on 26 July, with Nigeria drawn in Group C alongside Zambia, Egypt and Malawi. The Super Falcons will begin their campaign against Malawi in Rabat on 28 July before facing Zambia and Egypt.
The tournament will also serve as an important pathway to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, with the four semi-finalists earning automatic qualification for the global tournament.
