TASUED announces closure over students, community clash

The management of the Tai Solarin University of Education (TASUED), Ijagun, Ogun State has announced the closing down of the institution.

This was contained in a statement on Sunday by the university’s Registrar, Dapo Oke on Sunday.

According to the statement by the institution, the closure became inevitable following the clash between students and members of the community on Sunday.

The clash led to the burning down of the house of the Baake of the community by unknown persons.

The statement read: “Following the recent clash between students and members of the university host community in the early hours of today, particularly, the Iwameje community, which led to the eruption of violence, the university management hereby announces the closing down of the university.

“In the meantime, parents and guardians are hereby advised to recall their wards particularly those living in and around Iwameje back home immediately.

“Efforts are being made with law enforcement agents to restore peace and order in the community affected”.

However, the cause of the clash, has not been able to ascertain as at press time.
