President Bola Tinubu has approved the return of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) to the Office of the Vice President for supervision, in compliance with their various establishment Acts.

In a statement on Tuesday by the Director of Information in the Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola said that the President also approved a formal structure for the Office of the Vice President as well as an appropriate number of technical and administrative aides that would work with Vice President Kashim Shettima.

NEMA and NAHCON were removed from the supervision of the Office of Vice President by the immediate-past administration of Muhammadu Buhari, against extant laws.

While NAHCON was reporting to the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NEMA was made an agency under supervision of the Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development when the Ministry was created by the Buhari government in 2019.
