Rotary International President Olayinka Hakeem Babalola is set to convene the All Nigeria Rotary Peace Summit 2026 in Lagos on Saturday, November 7, 2026.
The Summit will bring together Rotarians, policymakers, peace advocates, community leaders and other stakeholders for a national conversation on strengthening sustainable peace in Nigeria.
With the theme, “Good Governance, Justice and Equity: Foundations for Sustainable Peace,” the event will be held at the Victoria Garden Event Centre, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, from 9am.
According to the organisers, the Summit will examine the connection between peace and the social, economic and institutional conditions in which Nigerians live.
Babalola said the gathering reflects Rotary’s belief that peace goes beyond the absence of conflict and must be deliberately built through dialogue, understanding, stronger communities and institutions that inspire public confidence.
“Peace must become more than something we wish for,” Babalola said. “It must be something we deliberately build in our communities, through our institutions and in the way we treat one another.”
Participants will explore the relationship between good governance, justice, equity, economic opportunity and community development, while seeking practical ways to promote collaboration and action.
The Summit will also draw from Rotary’s community-based experience in peacebuilding and other areas, including education, maternal and child health, disease prevention, economic empowerment, water and sanitation, and community development.
The organisers said the event was particularly timely as Nigeria prepares for the 2027 general elections, adding that the Summit would provide an opportunity for stakeholders to reflect on the conditions necessary for lasting peace.
Those expected to participate include Rotarians, professionals, traditional and community leaders, civil society representatives, young people, policymakers, private sector organisations and development partners.
“This is more than a gathering,” the organisers said. “It is a call to reflection, dialogue and action, especially because building peace is everybody’s business.”
