Abia PDP fixes 4 Feb for governorship primary to replace late candidate

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Abia State has fixed Saturday, 4 February for its gubernatorial primary election.

This arrangement comes on the heels of the death of Prof. Eleazar Uchenna Ikonne, who was the party’s governorship candidate. Ikonne died on Wednesday at the National Hospital Abuja after a protracted illness.

In a statement by the PDP on Friday, the governorship primary will be held at Umuahia Township Stadium.

The party said all interested aspirants are requested to collect the Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms from the its national headquarters at Wadata Plaza, Wuse Abuja.

The statement read partly: “The sale of both forms begins today Friday, 27 January, and ends on Wednesday, 1 February 2023.

“The screening of aspirants will hold at the PDP National Headquarters, Wadata Plaza Abuja, on Thursday, 2 February 2023, at 11:00 am prompt.

“All the aspirants are expected to present themselves to the State Working Committee, SWC, of the Abia PDP on Friday, 3 February 2023, at the State Secretariat, Finbars Street, Umuahia by 12:00 pm.

“Further directives from the State Party Secretariat, Finbars Street, Umuahia would be communicated when necessary”.
