Tanzanian singer Zuchu has announced her separation from fellow music star Diamond Platnumz, saying the pair are going through divorce proceedings.
Zuchu made the announcement in a post shared on her Instagram Stories on Sunday, describing the decision as a difficult one.
The singer, who is signed to Diamond Platnumz’s record label, did not disclose the reason for the separation but wrote: “We tried, but Allah has His own plans.”
She added that she had decided to prioritise her wellbeing and career.
“I have finally decided to choose myself and this is a time to heal and focus more on my health and career.
“My husband and I are now separated and going through a divorce. I announce this with a heavy heart. After six years of being together, I’ve finally decided to choose myself,” she wrote.
The announcement comes more than a year after the couple publicly confirmed their relationship. They announced in June 2025 that they had married after being together for five years.
Following Zuchu’s announcement, Diamond Platnumz’s former partner, Ugandan socialite Zari Hasan, reportedly reacted by praising the singer for enduring the relationship for as long as she did. Zari and Diamond Platnumz previously ended their relationship amid allegations of infidelity, which he has publicly addressed over the years.
