Chairman of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL), Hon Gbenga Elegbeleye has expressed sadness at the reported attack on players and officials of El-Kanemi Warriors FC by armed robbers.
The team was attacked by armed robbers along the Jos-Bauchi road on Saturday, 30 November 2024, while returning from their matchday 15 tie against Ikorodu City.
Elegbeleye said that while the NPFL Board was in touch with the Management of the club, he is happy that no life was lost from the attack.
Some players were reportedly injured, and valuables were stolen by the robbers.
El-Kanemi Warriors are scheduled to face Bayelsa United in their next match and the team is currently 4th on the log with 22 points.
