Ekiti State Governor, Biodun Oyebanji, has named newly constructed government buildings after some of his predecessors in recognition of their contributions to the development of the state.
According to a statement issued by the Governor’s Special Adviser on Media, Olayinka Oyebode, the gesture is aimed at honouring former governors who played significant roles in the state’s growth.
The statement disclosed that two of the buildings, named after former governors Dr Kayode Fayemi and Chief Ayodele Fayose, are scheduled to be commissioned on Friday, July 31, and Monday, August 3, 2026, respectively.
Another government building named after former governor Engr Segun Oni is also nearing completion and is expected to be inaugurated in October.
The statement recalled that in October 2024, Governor Oyebanji named the remodelled Presidential Lodge after Ekiti State’s first civilian governor, Otunba Niyi Adebayo. The facility was later commissioned by Adebayo during activities marking the second anniversary of the Oyebanji administration.
According to the governor’s spokesman, Fayemi, Fayose and Oni will attend the commissioning ceremonies as Special Guests of Honour and will personally inaugurate the buildings named in their honour.
Oyebode added that the commissioning marks the beginning of a new phase of project inaugurations by the Oyebanji administration as the governor concludes his first term and prepares for the commencement of his second term in office.
