The Oyo State Local Government Service Commission has released 1,535 promotion letters to staff across the state’s 33 local government areas as part of the 2025 promotion exercise.
The promotion covers officers on Grade Levels 06 to 17 across seven departments within the local government system.
A statement signed by the Director of Education and Social Services, Lala Foluso, and made available to journalists on Tuesday, said the beneficiaries were drawn from various departments.
They include Administration and General Services with 288 beneficiaries; Agriculture and Natural Resources, 57; Budget, Planning, Research and Statistics, 40; Education and Social Services, 431; Environmental Health Services, 44; Finance and Supplies, 315; and Works, Housing, Lands and Survey, 360.
Presenting the promotion letters on behalf of the commission, its Chairman, Bashorun Akinwole, said the exercise reflected Governor Seyi Makinde’s commitment to workers’ welfare, motivation and career advancement.
Akinwole said the promotion was aimed at strengthening the local government workforce and ensuring that workers were adequately motivated to deliver effective services at the grassroots.
“The promotion is a clear demonstration of the present administration’s commitment to building a professional, efficient and well-motivated local government workforce capable of delivering quality service to the people at the grassroots,” he said.
He added that the administration recognised the importance of a motivated workforce to effective governance.
“This administration under the leadership of Governor Seyi Makinde understands that a motivated workforce is the engine room of good governance,” Akinwole said.
“The prompt release of these promotion letters is in line with its resolve to ensure that no civil servant stagnates and that hard work is duly recognised and rewarded.”
The commission chairman congratulated the newly promoted officers, urging them to see their elevation not only as recognition of their previous efforts but also as an opportunity to take on greater responsibilities.
“See the promotion as both a reward for past diligence and a call to greater responsibility in service delivery across all the local governments and the commission,” he charged.
Akinwole further reaffirmed the commission’s commitment to conducting regular and timely promotion exercises, while improving capacity building and welfare packages for local government employees.
He said the measures were consistent with the Omituntun 2.0 agenda of the Makinde administration and aimed at enhancing efficiency and productivity within the local government service.
