Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen is expected to return to action when the Turkish champions face Kasımpaşa after the international break, according to Turkish media outlet Fanatik.
Osimhen was initially named in Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
However, following discussions between the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and Galatasaray, it was agreed that the striker would withdraw from international duty to continue his recovery. Taiwo Awoniyi was subsequently called up as his replacement.
The 27-year-old suffered a right adductor injury during Galatasaray’s 2-0 victory over İstanbul Başakşehir on 4 September.
The injury has kept him out of subsequent matches against Sporting CP, Kocaelispor and Trabzonspor.
Galatasaray’s medical team reportedly advised against Osimhen joining the Nigeria squad, with the forward instead continuing his rehabilitation programme at the club.
According to Fanatik, his recovery is progressing well and he is now nearing a return to full team training.
Osimhen is reportedly expected to be available for Galatasaray’s Süper Lig clash against Kasımpaşa on 9 October, potentially marking his return to competitive action after the injury lay-off.
