The management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has expelled two students over alleged involvement in same-sex conduct and rusticated four others for one academic session following a fight on campus.
The disciplinary measures were approved at the 31st Regular Meeting of the University’s Senate after recommendations by the Students’ Disciplinary Committee, according to a statement issued on Friday by the institution’s Information and Protocol Unit.
“The Management of Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH), Osara, has approved the expulsion of two students for involvement in gay practice and the rustication of four others for one academic session over acts of fighting on campus,” the statement said.
The university said the affected students had been notified through letters signed by the Deputy Registrar (Academics), Eli Gbadafu.
According to the statement, the sanctions were imposed in line with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook (Second Edition), as amended in 2025.
The expelled students were identified as Onumoko Hamza of the Department of Biology Education and Abdulazeez Eneji of the Department of Mining Engineering.
The four students rusticated for one academic session over fighting were named as Favor Akowe of the Department of Microbiology, Simbiat Babamuharuna of the Department of Biology, Zainab Omayoza of the Department of Biochemistry and Sukura Bukola, also of the Department of Biochemistry.
The university said the disciplinary action reflected its commitment to maintaining discipline, order and a conducive environment for teaching and learning.
It warned that it would continue to take appropriate disciplinary action against any student found to have breached the institution’s rules and regulations.
The management also advised students to familiarise themselves with the provisions of the Students’ Handbook and to conduct themselves in accordance with the university’s regulations.
