The Nigerian Institute of Journalism Alumni Association (NIJAA) has launched registration for its Global Alumni Directory, an initiative aimed at reconnecting graduates of the Nigerian Institute of Journalism (NIJ) across Nigeria and the Diaspora.
The initiative is also designed to establish a credible and verified database of NIJ alumni while strengthening professional networking, mentorship, welfare, recognition and engagement within the alumni community.
NIJAA President, Mr Muyiwa Akintunde, described the Global Alumni Directory as a foundational step towards repositioning the association as a truly connected global alumni community.
Akintunde said the new administration was committed to identifying and reconnecting NIJ alumni wherever they might be, noting that a comprehensive directory would provide a strong foundation for more effective engagement.
According to him, the database would also enable NIJAA to harness the collective strength, professional experience, expertise and networks of its members for the benefit of the association and its alma mater.
He urged all NIJ alumni to participate in the registration exercise and ensure that their details were captured on or before 12 October 2026.
The association particularly appealed to alumni who had lost contact with NIJAA or their former classmates to reconnect through its recognised communication channels.
NIJAA also urged registered members to help reach colleagues and classmates who might not yet be aware of the initiative.
“Every alumnus matters. Wherever you may be in the world, NIJAA remains your alumni family, and we want to reconnect with you,” the National Publicity Secretary of NIJAA, Comrade Mark Akhuetie, said.
The association said knowing who its members are, where they are and what they bring to the table was essential to building a stronger, more connected and impactful alumni community.
